The Arden Theatre produces a brochure annually to promote their season lineup and the venue’s offerings.

In anticipation of Canada’s 150th birthday, The Arden Theatre decided to adopt a Canadian heritage theme for the 2016-17 season. The season’s look was based on vintage Canadian travel posters, with the main illustrations developed by Curio Studio. 

The theatre also wanted to cut printing costs, which was accomplished by reducing performer pages from a double-page spread to single page, but not lose any information in the process. This required working out a grid system for text layout, and selecting Economica as a condensed complementary typeface to ensure information remained legible at smaller sizes. Alternating colour backgrounds were derived from the main cover illustration to create visual interest and maintain consistent tone throughout the brochure.
